South Africa voted in record-breaking numbers to determine the winner of the second season of The Voice South Africa and on Sunday 9 July DStv Premium and Compact viewers will find out which talented singer walks off with the grand prize. The special two-hour show will be broadcast on M-Net 101 as well as M-Net City, channel 115, as was the case with last year’s final.

The vote count and ranking of contestants were independently computed by Deloitte and Touche and confirmed against the vote results determined by M-Net this afternoon (Thursday 6 July) after voting closed last night (Wednesday 5 July) at 22:00.

M-Net was aware of another boosted social media post linked to The Voice SA voting this week. This paid-for marketing was visible online for approximately three hours on the morning of Tuesday 4 July and removed on M-Net’s request.

In each voting period, M-Net monitors the voting figures, activities and trends. Any abnormalities, such as spikes, are analysed to assess whether there is a material effect on the voting results.  Appropriate actions are taken, if required. At M-Net’s request, Deloitte and Touche independently computed the vote count and ranking just prior to this week’s boosted post and confirmed that the ranking of the talent and overall winner had not changed since the boosted post occurred.

In the interests of transparency, M-Net will disclose the voting figures next week.

Sunday night’s spectacular show, which starts at 17:00, will include a variety of performances by top South African artists. Gangs of Ballet will be on stage and the seven singers, who vied for the title of The Voice South Africa, will do collaborations with stars such as Nadine, Nianell, Gavin Edwards, Emo Adams, Thembeka Mnguni, Jimmy Nevis and Magdalene Minnaar.
