Ashur (26) is the son of legendary singer, composer and director Taliep Petersen – now tragically passed, Ashur remembers him being “a confidant and a motivator.” He’s a Cape Town-based singer, actor, theatre and musical producer – “an amalgamation of music.” Ashur is also proficient on the drums, keyboard and guitar, and he’s the youngest person ever in South Africa to sell out the Baxter and Artscape Theatres with ‘Like Father, Like Son’, a tribute to his dad – he was 20 at the time. He hopes The Voice will be a stepping stone for him to claim his own identity as a singer.
