Joel is 39 years old and hails from Pietermaritzburg. His father is a bishop and so he grew up on gospel, which spawned his passion for music before he developed an appetite for soul and R&B later in life. Understandably, his whole family are quite musical, but he’s the only one who has pursued music professionally. In addition to his formidable pipes he’s also quite the showman, starring in several musicals including Shaka Zulu, Jock of the Bushveld and King Kong.
