Spha Mdlalose

Vicavious Spha Mdlalose (28) from Cape Town studied her BA in Music at the University of Cape Town, and after she completed her degree in 2012 she became a fulltime musician and voiceover artist. “Music is my life, basically,” she says. But she’s never entered any kind of singing competition before. “I’m completely out of comfort zone!” she squealed before her Blind audition. Her calm, confident rendition of the Aretha Franklin classic “Say a Little Prayer” was enough to impress both Kahn and Lira who were immediately taken in by Spha’s unique and beautiful tone. In the end, it was fellow soul singer Lira who earned Spha’s choice in coach.
