You don’t expect a chemical engineer, who is married to a structural engineer, to have a secret life as a musical theatre star but it just goes to show ... The Voice South Africa is full of surprises! 23-year-old Marco Basson took music lessons from a young age and by the time he was a teen at Hoër Volkskool in Potchefstroom, he was taking part in the bi-annual musicals staged at North-West University. Despite this love of music, Marco graduated with a degree in chemical engineering, and moved to Vanderbijlpark with his brand new wife and their two Boston Terriers. The coaches were blown away by the rather nerdy-looking Marco’s ingenious rendition of “Jealous” by Nick Jonas. They all wanted him in their team, but he chose Bobby, who has never come out tops during a four chair-turn scenario before!
