Having grown up in Port Elizabeth, 23-year-old Alex Cavan has been singing since he left school after he took part in an open mic night on a whim at a local bar. Since then, Alex has been gigging around the Friendly City full time, while also raising his baby daughter with his fiancé Amber. Alex made a surprising choice of audition song, singing a stripped down acoustic version of the nineties R&B classic by Blackstreet, “No Diggity”. Coach Kahn Morbee lamented not turning for Alex, but this suited Bobby van Jaarsveld just fine, as he was the one coach to have the intuition to press his buzzer. “I’m honoured to have you on my team,” Bobby concluded.
