This is it! After weeks of spectacular performances and heartbreaking farewells, The Voice SA fans have until Thursday, 4 July at 22:00 to decide who the winner of this year’s competition will be – crooner Eon le Roux, The PJ Twins (Peter and John Talmarkes), African diva Siki Jo-An, soulful Afrikaans singer Soné Joubert or young rocker Tasché Burger? The act who receives the most votes from the fans over the course of the next couple of days will emerge victorious with the title of “The Voice South Africa 2019” and also walk away with a prize package that includes:
- a Telkom tech bundle with a Huawei P30 Pro, a Tab M5 Lite, a router, and a Huawei Watch GT, Telkom data, and an Anti-Theft Back Pack
- Truworths clothing vouchers to the value of R100 000
- a Toyota RAV4
- and a recording contract with Universal Music South Africa.
Sadly, after his third turn in the Danger Zone in a row, the outrageously talented Yahto Kraft from Alberton narrowly missed his shot at being in the final when he received the fewest viewers’ votes this week and had to head home just days before the end.
Yahto (18), who competed in the lives as part of #TeamLira, has been doing vocal training since primary school and his mom says he’s been acting and putting on little shows for strangers for as long as she can remember. Before turning Riky Rick, LIRA, and Francois van Coke’s chairs at his Blind Audition, Yahto was studying musical theatre at the Stageworx School of Performing Arts in Randburg, and as a self-confessed fashion freak he also designs and makes a lot of his own spectacular performance outfits.
“Of course I’m sad and disappointed, but I never expected to get this far!” Yahto admitted. “It’s not about the fact that I’m leaving, it’s about the fact that I was here,” he noted bravely. “I love you so much,” LIRA sobbed as she hugged him goodbye. “I love you so much and I’m so proud of you.”
Now there’s only 5 Talent left, and one of them will become The Voice South Africa next week in the spectacular Third Season Finalé, broadcast live from the Mosaïek Teatro in Fairlands, Johannesburg!

A blow-by-blow account of tonight’s performances:
First to perform for the final viewers’ votes tonight was Soné Joubert (27) from Gordon’s Bay, singing the Fleetwood Mac classic “You Can Go Your Own Way”. LIRA noted that Soné is the ultimate comeback kid. “In my mind you are already a fully-fledged recording artist,” she said. Riky Rick reminded Soné that you need a very special characteristic for the audience to keep demanding your return. “Take care of that and remain humble,” he said. “People love you because of your humility.” And her coach, Riana Nel, said Soné made her very proud to be Afrikaans.
Riky Rick’s final remaining Talent, P.E.’s Eon le Roux (27) performed a stirring rendition of the Aerosmith hit “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” from the 1998 movie “Armageddon”. “Last week on live TV I said I’m ‘in love’ with you,” Francois van Coke remembered, a little embarrassed. “I’ve loved your voice from the first time I heard it,” he told Eon. Riana called him the “key-change king” and said she gets goosebumps every time he sings. And coach Riky Rick gave Eon a heartfelt thanks for doing what he does. “You are a winner and you will always be a winner,” he said.
The only remaining #TeamVanCoke Talent, Tasché Burger from Brackenfell, who just celebrated her 19th birthday, performed Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero” from the 1984 hit movie “Footloose”. Riky Rick said if he was the President he would make Tasché the Minister of Music. And her proud coach said he’s not the only one who is so proud of her, it’s everybody, everywhere he goes.
Bonteheuwel’s PJ Twins (26), who spent some time in the Danger Zone tonight, hoped to impress the voting fans one last time with their version of the Andrea Bocelli hit “Because We Believe”. Riky Rick told the twins that they know what to do by now. “Just do your job,” he told them. LIRA noted that they got this far in the competition because of how diverse they are, “so I am super proud of you,” she told her twins.
And closing the show was Siki Jo-An Qwazi (25) from Port Elizabeth, who was rescued from the Danger Zone tonight, belted out the Adele hit “Someone Like You”. Francois pointed out how very versatile Siki has been on this show. “I look at you and I see a strong, beautiful woman who’s going to leave a remarkable road behind her,” Riana told her.
The finalé of The Voice South Africa Season 3 will be screened live on M-Net 101 next Sunday at 17:30 and will be repeated on VUZU, Channel 116, on Monday at 20:00. It will also be available on DStv Catch Up.
