The Bachelor
bachelor
a man who is not and has never been married
That man is Lee Thompson, and he’ll be looking for love over the course of the show. The American rendition is currently on its 23rd season, and the Australian completed its 6th season last year. This is South Africa’s very first season and Lee is our very first bachelor. Will he find love on the show? If he does, will he propose? Only time will tell.

The Ladies
Twenty-four ladies will be vying for Lee’s love. They come from all corners of the country and will be revealed in the first episode. Every week, you’ll get to make predictions about what Lee and the ladies are getting up to on the show.

Date Cards
This is a show about love after all, and in order to get to know the ladies better, Lee needs to do some serious romancing. The Bachelor uses date cards to invite ladies on dates, which can be individual dates or group dates.

Group Dates
Group dates involve Lee going out with several of the ladies, often engaging in activities that incorporate his passions and pursuits. These dates can consist of several ladies or be a 2-on-1. It’s up to the ladies to make their presence felt, because Lee could hand out a rose.

Individual Dates
Any lady who’s made an impression on Lee could stand a chance to go on a solo date, and have The Bachelor all to herself. There could also be a rose at stake.

First Impression Rose
The most important item on the show – besides Lee himself – is the rose. In the first episode, Lee will get a chance to meet all the ladies and the one who makes the strongest first impression receives the first impression rose.

Rose Ceremony
What’s the deal with the roses, you ask? If a lady receives a rose during the course of the episode it means she’s safe at the rose ceremony. This happens at the end of the episode. The Bachelor, Lee, hands out roses to all the ladies he wishes to stay in the house, so he can get to know them better. If a lady does not receive a rose, either during the episode or at the rose ceremony, she exits the show.

The Mansion
House? What house? Well, actually it’s a mansion. The ladies live together in Africa’s Richest Square Mile during the run of the season, leading to friendships but also fights. When you’re living in close quarters, tensions are bound to rise, so prepare for lots of drama. Take a tour of the mansion here.
