M-Net and multiple award-winning production house, Tshedza Pictures, have been lining up a stellar cast for the channel’s first telenovela, Legacy, due to hit our screens in September 2020.

While following the life and times of the super-wealthy Price family and the down-to-earth Potgieters, much of the drama and intrigue will play out at the Price’s elite investment company. And, at these offices, three familiar faces will be part of the boardroom battles. Formidable SAFTA winner Siyabonga Thwala, accomplished star Leeanda Reddy and veteran of the stage and screen Don Mlangeni Nawa will be pulling their weight at Legacy Pty Ltd.

Siyabonga Thwala plays Msizi Zulu, an ambitious board member who also is the head honcho at Legacy Media and L24 News. Like Felicity (Mary-anne Barlow), the company founder’s opportunistic daughter, Msizi also has his eye on the coveted position of CEO. Felicity should take note because nothing will stop him from landing his dream job!

Thwala is well known for portraying taxi boss Mpiyakhe Zungu in Mzansi Magic’s popular soap Isibaya. He also created and hosted Yobe, the documentary series in which ex-offenders approach victims or victims' families for forgiveness. The impressive resume of this celebrated stage thespian furthermore includes television appearances in The RepublicScandalIsidingo, and Generations

In the role of Nirvana Perumal - Legacy’s sharp, witty and tough Investment board chairperson - viewers will find actress, stand-up comedian and scriptwriter Leeanda Reddy. Even though she won the hearts of many South Africans in Isidingo, Leeanda has also worked with many famous local and international filmmakers. She starred in the Hollywood film Diana with Naomi Watts, landed a role in the crime thriller Cape Town, which featured Arnold Vosloo and Boris Kodjoe, and she played the doctor who attended to Eldris Elba’s character in Dark Tower.

John, the longest-serving employee at the company - in fact, the guy who was there when the doors opened - is brought to life by the inimitable Don Mlangeni Nawa. His contribution to the local television industry was honoured in 2018, with a Royalty Soapie Lifetime Achievement Award. Don has played unforgettable characters in soaps and TV shows such as Sgudi Snaysi, Isidingo, Uzalo, Abomama and The Throne

“Rest assured, secrets, schemes and shady alliances will wittingly or unwittingly surround these three characters in Legacy,” says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard. “All three the above cast members will also bring even more gravitas to the series.”

Legacy’s ensemble also includes Deon Lotz, Mary-anne Barlow, Kgomotso Christopher, Michelle Botes, Reandi Grey, Jay Anstey, Dawid Minnaar, Sean-Marco Vorster and Trix Vivier.

Legacy will be screened in September 2020 on M-Net Channel 101. DStv Premium viewers can also catch the series on Catch Up, or stream the episodes live via their mobile devices on DStv Now. Follow all the breaking news around the show on our website, and join the conversation using #LegacySA on Twitter (@MNet), Instagram (@mnettv) and Facebook (@MNet).
