Illumination Entertainment Takeover!
The minions and their Illumination Entertainment friends are taking over the school holidays!
M-Net Movies has joined forces with Illumination Entertainment – the mega animation branch of Universal Pictures that brought audiences the cuddly yellow minions – to bring smiles to households around the country this school holidays.
From 28 September to 10 October, the M-Net Movies Smile Illumination Takeover festival will light up channel 105 on DStv with some of the world’s favourite animated movies, including Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, Despicable Me 3, Minions, The Secret Life Of Pets, Hop, Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, and Sing.
During these two weeks, the M-Net Movies Smile Illumination Takeover will screen three of these colourful blockbuster films between 14:00 and 18:00 every weekday afternoon. Look forward to silly shenanigans with everyone’s favourite minions Bob, Stuart, and Kevin, as well as furry adventures with E.B. from Hop. On the last weekend of the fun-filled festival (Saturday 6 October and Sunday 7 October) the kiddies will get all eight Illumination films back to back from 12:00 onwards.
Children of all ages will be enthralled and entertained once more by the antics of Gru, the evil genius with a heart of gold and his bumbling minions, a talking Easter bunny with attitude, a beloved Dr. Seuss classic, pets with secret lives, and animals that have singing competitions. Mom, dad, and animated movie lovers can also enjoy award-winning filmmaking paired with top-notch vocal skills from famous names who lent their voices to the movies’ characters.
These lovable animated adventures have featured many Hollywood heavyweights, including Steve Carell as the phenomenal Gru in Despicable Me, funny man Kevin Hart who flexes his comedic chops in The Secret Life Of Pets, and the star-studded cast of Sing celebrates music with the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, and Jennifer Hudson.
“The M-Net Movies Smile Illumination Takeover is indeed perfect entertainment for the school holidays,” says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard. “Previous animation festivals have proved that the young ones are thrilled when they have the opportunity to spend time with their special screen friends when there’s no homework or extra-mural activities. This collection of films is extra-special and everything a child’s heart can desire."
