1. As a boy, Schuster and his brother would film their friends while playing pranks on them, and so his love for candid camera was born.

2. You may know him as the star of numerous box office hits, but he also writes, sings, produces and directs. He even used to work on radio.

3. Speaking of his singing skills, he has released a number of albums.

4. In 1995, his album Hie Kommie Bokke sold more than 235 000 copies.

5. Daringly, and incredibly dangerously, the hippo scene in Mr. Bones was not faked: Schuster actually swam with the young hippo during filming. 

6. Schuks! Pay Back the Money! is his ninth candid camera feature.

7. He was a teacher at Hoërskool Jim Fouché in Bloemfontein, where he was himself a student.

8. Rugby features prominently in a lot of his movies and music, so it's not surprising to learn that he was an avid rugby player in his youth.

9. During his early days of filming his candid camera films, celebrities were more often than not unwilling to be part of the comedic action. These days his films are packed with well-known names, including Rob van Vuuren, Bianca Le Grange, Jack Parow, Loyiso Bala, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Trevor Noah and Helen Zille.

10. In South Africa, his movies consistently out-gross Hollywood hits.
