It came as no surprise to see #TheVoiceSA topping the Twitter trending list last night, but we were pleasantly surprised to have so many old faces and handles back to join the conversation. Hereโ€™s how it unfolded!

The opening medley from our coaches hit home with you at home on your phones. Last seasonโ€™s Robin Pieters was among those wowed, posting, โ€œ@VoiceSA Opening Yaaaaaas.โ€ And Channel 24 was back to live tweet the action along with us, and they astutely noticed the seasonโ€™s first change. Along with a gif of US coach Gwen Stefani going โ€œooohโ€ coyly, they wrote, โ€œOooh the coaches changed their seating positions!โ€

Then it was the talentsโ€™ turns to impress. Bubbly Bubbles was up first with an โ€œeffervescentโ€ take on CeeLo Green that had host Stacey Norman impressed. โ€œOh hey, @TheRealBubbles #TheVoiceSA @VoiceSA off to a kiff startโ€ she tweeted, along with victory and love-eyes emojis. Former talent were also impressed โ€œwatching from the other sideโ€, with Almur Marais saying, โ€œBubbles you rock girlโ€ and Richard writing, โ€œ@TheRealBubbles @VoiceSA @staceynorman great stuff! Great way to kick off season 2!โ€

Luke Lovemore got some love from our ladies, Lira and Karen, and a lot of you on social media. But journo Gabi Mbele had noticed something else: โ€œLungile Radu's reactions to each contestant is so personal one would swear he's part of the familyโ€ she opined with some laughing emojis. Fellow scribe Terence Pillay was along with us for all of last season, and he was excited we were back. โ€œSeason 2 of @VoiceSA is underway,โ€ he posted. โ€œThe production on this show is brilliant! Well done @MNet. @KahnMorbee is taking it again this year right?โ€ Well, well - do you agree?

With a unique raspy voice and falsetto, Freddy became our first four-turn of the season, and yโ€™all seemed to like him as much as the coaches! Sphamandla Mkhize posted a pic of Freddy with the words, โ€œKahn may just have the year's winner. Too early to say I know. But I'm so excited!!!!โ€ and his new coach weighed in too with, โ€œextremely happy deluxe #TeamKahn #TheVoiceSAโ€.

Our sponsor Dialdirect was loving along with the rest of us, tweeting, โ€œWhat did you think of tonight's @VoiceSA performances? We're can't decide who we love more. #TheVoiceSAโ€. And thatโ€™s how weโ€™ll keep it! Meanwhile Aston had made it onto #TeamLira, and SA Celebrity Tweets approved, posting, โ€œWell done @Miss_LIRA! You got a fantastic voice! #Aston #TeamLira #TheVoiceSAโ€.

Bobbyโ€™s first success of the night and the season came in the form of Rick Jansen, our coach turning just in time to secure the young star. Radio and TV personality Pabi Moloi was certainly amped โ€“ so much so she was disturbing the peace! โ€œScreaming Do It Bobby! Do It Bobby! at my tv,โ€ she wrote. โ€œMy neighbors must be very suspicious.โ€ LOL at that! SA Celebrity Tweets were equally amped about Kirby Jo, posting, โ€œAnd @KahnMorbee turns for @KirbyJoMusic! What a voice for #TeamKahn!โ€

Final talent of the night Marissa Petzer arrived with her boyfriend Almur, got four turns and started a Twitter spat between two of our coaches! After opting for #TeamKaren, Bobby tweeted, โ€œToo obvious Marissa, I wanted a curve-ball to come my way on #TheVoiceSA! Safe hands with @karenzoid and good to have some Stilfontein back.โ€ Karen was quick to respond with, โ€œ.@bobbyvjaarsveld I took Stilfontein to the top 4 last season - Marissa made a wise decision on #TheVoiceSA!โ€

Weโ€™ll leave Channel 24 with our final say for this week: โ€œWhat a great start to the season. We can't wait for next week.โ€
