Channel 24 are quick with The Voice US memes and kicked us off with an amped pic of Pharrell and the caption, “Ready for @VoiceSA like...#TheVoiceSA”. Then it was on to the talent, and after Jeanne-Mari had opted for #TeamBobby and not Lira, the lady herself spoke: “When @bobbyvjaarsveld turned I kinda knew I'd lost this beautiful talent” she wrote – right?!
Lira also weighed in on our next talent, PE’s Zikhona, who confessed to once coming all the way up to Jo’burg from Grahamstown to be in a Lira video. “Aaah this just warmed my heart. And she is SO gorgeous” our coach wrote – pity she didn’t turn... But at least Kahn did! Channel 24 approved too, tweeting, “Such a great audition by Zikhona! So far the talent is [fire] tonight!”
Our co-host Stacey Norman welcomed our first duo of the season, The Massers, posting, “Grab your sibling and start a band, yo! And always cover Fleetwood”. Meanwhile, last season’s runner-up, Gavin Edwards, tweeted some encouragement for Pierre Russouw, who didn’t make it. “Ahhh so sad, @diepeer is a good friend of mine. Keep singing dude” he wrote.
Karen was thrilled when four-turn Armand Joubert chose her, and if fellow coach Bobby was miff he didn’t show it, writing, “Great things come from Witbank @karenzoid - well done on capturing Armand, he’s a #TheVoiceSA contender for sure.” Stacey thought similar about #TeamLira’s Andrew, tweeting, “Guys: Boys II Men on @VoiceSA Andrew serving!”
Stacey’s 947 mate Philicity Reecken just loved Veronique, posting, “@_Veronique_L you made my cry!!! You are a freaking STAR! Thank you.” Veronique herself was super grateful about her success, writing, “Wow! Thank you @karenzoid for this opportunity to work with you! I KNOW I am going to learn so SO much! @VoiceSA what an awesome show!!!”
Then, Amanda. Wow. The reaction to the accountant who’d never performed in public before was riotous. Channel 24 posted a gif of an ecstatic Blake Shelton with the words, “That was the fastest four turn chair on the show ever!” (they even published a story to this effect on Monday). MorneJK chipped in: “Wow! Well done @amandafaku_ ! #TeamLira all the way!!!”
Closing out this week is Gavin Edwards: “Another stellar episode of The @VoiceSA tonight. SA has amazing talent we should all be so proud. What a season so far”. We know!
