The Battles are over but they provided a number of sterling memes and comments on Twitter.

All the way back to Battles 1, and Channel24 kicked us off with what became a recurring trend for them: a The Voice US gif, in this case an amped-looking Pharrell with the caption, โ€œWe're so ready for the Battle Rounds! @VoiceSA #TheVoiceSAโ€. And for the first and only time in the season we were joined by co-coaches, and co-host and V-Reporter Stacey Norman was quick to welcome one of them, posting, โ€œOh haai, @JimmyNevisโ€ along with a heat-eyed face emoji.

The reality of the Battle rounds became clear after the very first one, Anchรซn versus Marco. While both were pretty much flawless, Marco was sent through to the Knockouts, and Anchรซn was on her way home. Kahn responded with this tweet: โ€œI canโ€™t believe it - suddenly weโ€™re losing #TheVoiceSA talent, and after such a flawless Battle. @AnchG13, canโ€™t wait to hear more from you.โ€ Not all Battle pairs had a loser though, because Steals! Kahn enjoyed #TeamLiraโ€™s Al and Jacqueline so much he offered to steal one before Lira had made her choice! He duly ended up with Al, and a message of gratitude from Lira, who wrote, โ€œSorry @KahnMorbee, but you Kahn-t have @jatolken! So sweet though - thank you for the pre-emptive Steal. #TheVoiceSAโ€.

Oh, and we had an Oprah meme. Baerrinne posted a gif of a teary Oprah captioned, โ€œI'm such a mess for singing competitions. Always 10 to tears. Moved. #TheVoiceSA is really dope. Great calibe of talent. Officially invested.โ€ There was a Carrie Bradshaw meme too, with TimoCrane posting a gif of a shook-looking Sarah Jessica Parker accompanied with the words, โ€œThat voice though! Unbelievable! @JoubertArmand will no doubt win @VoiceSA 2017!โ€

Some of South Africaโ€™s most gifted musos also got in on the action. Monark, a band who performed during the live shows on season 1, gave Marco a thumbs up, tweeting, โ€œOur boy! Well done @BassonMo7โ€. Prime Circle didnโ€™t have a preference but they were watching, posting, โ€œFinal night of @VoiceSA The Battles! Who's watching with us?โ€ Us, of course! Daniel Baron took a liking to #TeamBobbyโ€™s Alex, writing, โ€œBig up to @alexcavanmusic for the epic performance. I'm a fan!โ€ Meanwhile Majozi loved #TeamKarenโ€™s epic Battle, tweeting, โ€œWow!! What powerful voices! @CelestCS @marissapetzer.โ€

Our own @VoiceSA tweets were continual and captivating, but one of the highlights was a preview of a set tour. "Lightning Fast" @staceynorman takes us on a cool + quirky tour of #TheVoiceSA Battle set! Full clip here -> http://bit.ly/2nRhgL2ย โ€œ we wrote. Itโ€™s certainly worth a watch! Stacey meanwhile was admiring preacher Karen, writing, โ€œ"Real is the new perfect" - @karenzoid being her usual mystical self on @VoiceSAโ€ along with a unicorn emoji!

Our talent were pretty vocal โ€“ this is The Voice, after all โ€“ but one of our fave posts came from Christy-Lyn, who teased her Battle with Fatman by posting a behind-the-scenes pic of the big guy from Bela Bela playing her harp, captioned, โ€œFun times practicing with @fatman_brummer for our battle on Sunday on #TheVoiceSA!โ€ A cool meme came out of this strange yet captivating Battle, with Wednesday Adams โ€“ any relation to Emo? โ€“ posting an image of a dejected looking Kermit The Frog with the tagline, โ€œThe angelic harpist vs the humble giant .....why did kahn pit two of my favourites against each other?โ€ Shame!

Last seasonโ€™s talent weighed in regularly too. Richard Stirton joined us for Battles 3 and had this to say: โ€œPJ and Chico. Jeeeeepers they have beautiful tones. Gonna be interesting to see who takes this.โ€ And runner-up to Richard, Gavin Edwards, watched loyally, but loved #TeamLiraโ€™s successful Battle pairing in the last Battle round, writing, โ€œWow @TheRealBubbles & Bryce that was sick Well doneโ€.

The Steals were also roundly acclaimed. After Karen stole Amanda, Helen Desbois tweeted, โ€œWe <3 steals! Thanks goodness one didn't get away #TeamKaren #TeamLira Game on.โ€ Liraโ€™s co-coach Riana Nel had her say too, posting, โ€œI'm so glad for you Amanda! You are one in a million! So rare! Your tenderness is a strength! It draws us in. Ririโ€. MornรฉJK was clearly impressed with Lira stealing Marissa, writing, โ€œTjo! I think @karenzoid just handed #TheVoiceSA to @Miss_LIRA! #TeamLira all the way baby! @marissapetzerโ€.

Some of our favourite posts were the uniquely South African ones, with the use of pics of political leaders with various expressions used comedically. Sphaโ€™s performance had Shabba digging into his image bag for a photo of a flabbergasted Jacob Zuma with the caption, โ€œYou make me happy @sphakling_m #thevoicesaโ€. Then there was Bathabile Dlamini, looking like a perplexed Bathabile Dlamini, posted by Wednesday Adams with the words, โ€œThe attitude in this performance guys and vocal acrobatics, how will Karen choose ?!

And finally during our last Battles, a host of the countryโ€™s top music acts announced that they are officially joining the show and are performing in the live shows! First up was Connell Cruise, who posted a very Voice-esque image of himself with the words, โ€œJust confirmed that Iโ€™ll be performing on #TheVoiceSA! See you at the live shows in May.โ€ GoodLuck were up next; they tweeted, โ€œLoving watching the amazing talent on @VoiceSA tonight - super excited for our live performance after the knockout stageโ€. Finally it was Majozi, who wrote, โ€œYes!!! Just been confirmed to play on the #TheVoiceSA live shows after the Knockouts!โ€ Welcome all!
