Matt Damon is back as Jason Bourne, in the franchise's fifth movie. Taking its title from the main character, it's been nine years since Damon played the titular spy and we're incredibly excited to watch him reprise the role.

In anticipation of delving back into the superspy's world in Jason Bourne, we thought we'd share a few facts about the movies with you. We've also included some reminders about the franchise, just to refresh your memory.

  • There are thirteen books, five feature films, and one TV movie.
  • Richard Chamberlain was the first actor to play Jason Bourne. He portrayed the character in the 1988 TV movie, The Bourne Identity, based on the book of the same name. This version is more faithful to the book than the 2002 version.
  • Matt Damon played Jason Bourne in the first, second, third and fifth film. They are titled The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and Jason Bourne, respectively.
  • The fourth film, The Bourne Legacy, featured Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross. Cross is an original character, who does not appear in the books.
  • In Jason Bourne, its Oscar-winning star gets an Oscar-winning co-star: Alicia Vikander joins the franchise, fresh from her Best Supporting Actress win earlier this year.
  • NBC Universal in Australia recently held a Twitter Q&A with Damon and Vikander. Guess who got their question answered? Damon's long-time friend and colleague Ben Affleck.

  • Lalla Hirayama was recently in Las Vegas and also got a chance to interview the stars. She even snapped a selfie with Damon. Check it out below and keep an eye on this page for the upcoming interview.
