The six finalists in M-Net Movies’ The Greatest Movie Ever Made casting competition were announced in Rosebank tonight on Thursday, 6 October following fun-filled workshops with renowned film directors Akin Omotoso, AKA, and Peter Heaney.

In the next round, these promising thespians will star in a special M-Net Movies short film and viewers will pick the winner who will nab an all-expenses paid trip to Hollywood courtesy of UIPSA.

Among the six who will be vying for votes are two internet sensations: Devon Wayne Saunders (33) from Cape Town, whose more than 100 000 online followers are often entertained by videos which he uses to raise awareness or funds for charity, and final year Academy of Television and Screen Arts student George Mnguni (22) from Vosloorus in Gauteng who does comedy skits on his YouTube channel Okwasabi.

They will have to outshine drama graduate Lamar Bonhomme (27) from Randpark Ridge whose CV boasts has a few small acting gigs, including an appearance in the kykNET drama Fluiters in which he had to speak Arabic.

Viewers will also be able to vote for two charming young actresses who are dreaming of life in front of the camera. Former Wits drama student Kira Marie Timm (25) from Blairgowrie in Gauteng has acted in radio dramas while waiting for her big break in the industry and Zimkhitha Mohlabeng (20) from Randfontein realised acting was her passion while studying Film and Television at the University of Johannesburg. She is now a first-year Drama student at Wits.

Then there’s Julian Fouche (22) from Germiston for whom the competition is an exciting learning experience. He is studying directing at the Open Window Institute in Centurion and has never acted out a script himself before.
