#TeamBobby and #TeamLira take to the stage in second live showstopper!

Last week, coaches Kahn Morbee and Karen Zoid had the unenviable task of saving only one of their four talent in the first spectacular live show of The Voice SA. Despite incredible performances all round, Kahn elected to save larger-than-life comedian and music teacher Fatman (40) from Bela Bela, while Karen Zoid chose to take Samantha Leonard (24) from Kimberly into the Top 8 round of the show. This week it will be revealed which performer the South African voting public has saved from the remaining six talent in each team, before #TeamBobby and #TeamLira take to the impressive new stage to show off their chops for their first public voting round.

Joining Bobby and Lira’s teams in the live showstopper this week are South African rocker Jesse Clegg as well as coaches Kahn and Karen who will be performing their latest collaboration! Their performances, coupled with some classic chart-topping hits chosen by the talent, promise to make for another incredible show.

#TeamLira’s team of powerhouse vocalists have opted for a mix of contemporary and older classic tracks. Effervescent Bubbles Mnomiya (23) from Durban will turn up the tempo with Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like”. Lira’s oldest talent Tender Mavundla (35) from Port Shepstone will be bringing out her big guns, covering Tina Turner’s smash hit “Proud Mary”, while rocker Luke Lovemore takes the pace down a notch with Lady Gaga’s massive ballad “Million Reasons”. Marissa Petzer (22) from Stilfontein will stay true to her rock ‘n roll roots with the Aerosmith classic “Pink”.

Coach Bobby van Jaarsveld’s four talent have mostly opted for hit songs that are currently topping global music charts. Lawyer Caroline Brussow (32) from Bloemfontein will tackle Sia’s “Elastic Heart” while engineer Marco Basson (23) from van der Bijl Park has chosen Ed Sheeran’s pop standard “Castle on the Hill” for his first live performance. Musical theatre alum Josh Ansley (31) from Johannesburg will showcase his vocal range once more with the Survivor anthem “Eye of the Tiger” and Matriculant John James Janse van Rensburg (19) will bring some soul to the party with his rendition of Shawn Mendes’ pop ballad “Treat You Better”.

Just like last week, each coach will only have one opportunity to save one member of their team this season, and they have to exercise their save in the first round. Thereafter, the public will decide which team members from both teams they choose to save with their votes. Voting for #TeamLira and #TeamBobby’s talent will open directly after the show at 19:00, and will close on Tuesday, 23 May at 22:00. Tickets for The Voice SA live shows are available from Computicket.
