Weโ€™ve been killing, domesticating and dominating them for millennia, and now animals are fighting back. This is the premise of the new sci-fi action thriller series Zoo, starting on Friday 1 January at 20:30 on M-Net.

Zoo is based on the novel of the same title, written by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge. Across the world, both wild and domestic animals are behaving strangely, killing humans in what seems to be an organised fashion, and sometimes holding them captive. This can only mean one thing: an uprising.

The cast features a mix of famous and lesser-known actors. Meet the characters!

Jackson Oz (James Wolk) is a young American zoologist who works in Botswana. He begins noticing the strange animal behaviour when he and his friend, Kenyan safari guide Abraham Kenyatta (Nonso Anozie) rescueย a French tourist from a lion attack. And, as it turns out, Jacksonโ€™s late father Robert had been collecting evidence pointing toward an upcoming animal rebellion.

Journalist Jamie Campbell (Kristen Connolly) becomes suspicious when a lionkeeper is attacked at the Los Angeles Zoo. She believes that the problem lies with new food contaminated by pesticides, and secretly starts to investigate the problem with Dr Mitch Morgan (Billy Burke), a slightly odd veterinary pathologist.

Finally, thereโ€™s Chloe Tousignant (Nora Arnezeder), the tourist rescued by Jackson and Abraham โ€“ except Chloe isnโ€™t a tourist at all, but a French intelligence agent.

Zooย is on M-Net, Fridayย nights at 20:30.ย Make sure you never miss an episode byย downloading the M-Net Appย and setting reminders for the show.
