Did you attend the auditions to be the movie trailer voice for M-Net Action Heroes? If you missed out, you can still try out this weekend, if you live in or around Joโ€™burg. Otherwise, you can enter via WeChat. ย 

To help you prepare weโ€™ve been sharing voice over tips for all aspiring artists. Nigerian actor Akin Omotoso even popped into Yfm last week to share his voice over experience on air.

Besides these tips, interviews and the script (which you can find below) we decided to share a few fun facts about five incredible voice over artists to inspire and amaze you.

Rob Paulsen did the voices of Raphael and Donatello in the 1987 animated TV series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Heโ€™s also provided voices for PJ in A Goofy Movie, Yakko Warner in Animaniacs, and Pinky in Pinky and the Brain.

Elizabeth Daily has voiced Babe in Babe: Pig in the City, Buttercup in The Powerpuff Girls, Tommy Pickles in Rugrats, and Jake Harper in the theme song for Two and Half Men.

Jim Cummings will astound you with his vocal repertoire. In addition to Ed, Gopher and Scarโ€™s singing voice in The Lion King, as well as Tigger in Winnie-the-Pooh movies and series,ย Cummings has voiced characters in The Addams Family, Wreck-It Ralph, Zambezia, The Princess and the Frog, Shrek, Mulan, Aladdin and A Goofy Movie.

Phil Lamarr is the voice behind Hermes Conrad in Futurama, Samurai Jack, Ollie Williams in Family Guy, andย Reddas in Final Fantasy XII. This is a voice actor youโ€™ve probably seen before, in the flesh, because he played Marvin in Pulp Fiction.ย

Last, but by no means least, the denizen of movie trailer voices: Don LaFontaine. This is the man we have to thank for the famous catch phrase โ€œin a worldโ€ฆโ€ His reasoning behind the phrase was that it transports viewers into the world of the story, quickly yet effectively setting the scene.
