Racing into cinemas. Turbo-charged entertainment. High-octane action. We could go on, but you get the point. And that point is that the eighth instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise (The Fate of the Furious) is finally (almost) here.
After preparing for this moment with the first seven feature films on the M-Net Movies Fast & Furious pop-up channel, weโre on our way tonight to watch The Fate of the Furious with the lucky winners of this monthโs M-Net Movies Night Out.
But before you watch F8 (whether itโs tonight or once itโs released nationwide on 14 April) here are eight things you need to know about Fast & Furious 8.
- Director F. Gary Gray makes his Fast & Furious debut with F8. Youโve likely seen some of this previous films: Friday, The Italian Job, and Straight Outta Compton.
- South African actress Charlize Theron is the latest megastar to join the speedy canon, as the filmโs main antagonist. She previously worked with director Gray in another car-related movie: The Italian Job.
- Another big name to keep an eye out for is Dame Helen Mirren, who honed her action chops in the Red movies.
- Game of Thronesโ fans can look forward to seeing Nathalie Emmanuel return as Ramsey, while wilding enthusiasts will recognise Kristofer Hivju, who plays Tormund Giantsbane in the fantasy series.
- And of course, you can expect the return of franchise regulars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Dwayne Johnson, as well as Luke Evans and Jason Statham.
- The filmโs spectacular locations (which weโre sure will deliver spectacular action) are Cuba, Iceland, and New York City.
- Cars youโll be salivating over include a 1929 Ford Rat Rod, a McLaren 675LT, a Twin Turbo Lamborghini, a Ferrari F430, a Rolls-Royce Wraith, and a 1956 Chevy Bel-Air.
- This wonโt be the last Fast & Furious movie. F8 kicks off a new trilogy, which will end with F10 in 2021.
